PETALUMA WATER SCORES 1 OUT OF 10 (WORST)

Postby petalumawest » Sun Jan 01, 2012 11:43 pm

Our plumber was telling us how bad the water quality in Petaluma is after a recent visit, I didn't believe him knowing the water comes from the Russian River, here's the bad news: http://www.homefacts.com/waterquality/C ... aluma.html

Why would you want to drink water when there's perfectly good scotch in every nearby liquor store? ;)

Run all drinking water through a good carbon filter. Most of the popular brands also take out many of the heavy metals in addition to most of the organics.

Brita works great.

Boy, I cannot get mad about this anymore. The high rates we pay for water and sewage is just killing us. Now, the quality issue... This slow pot of hot water is cooking this frog to death !!!!

They say frog legs taste just like chicken.
(I'm teasing)

It is enraging to pay ever higher prices for ever lowering quality product isn't it?

The question I can't get out of my head is, with municipalities being forced, by recent legislation, to design, construct and implement water management systems that comply with the " 20 / 2020 " mandate ... how can additional industrial ( or any kind ) development be approved when water availability is already running a deficit for existing consumers ??

Having looked into the "water issues" that govern water management agencies, while I'm not saying it's "right", I do understand how such decisions, ie rate increases, are being justified.

Still, my question is if we don't have enough water to properly serve existing consumers ... how can we justify approval of new development. Especially industrial development which, according the Petaluma's 2010 Urban Water Management Plan ... shows industrial usage up ... when the 20 / 2020 mandate is for decreased usage.

(now there's a mouth full ... lol )

I invite people to peruse through the " Let's Talk About Water " links in the "Rants" section to gain an overview of the "connect the dot" issues.

PUR filters work great! And I know when they need to replaced when I can taste the unfiltered water. BLECH!

Where are you seeing a water score on this site? I looked all over but don't see it.

This really seems more like an advertisement for your web site...

FYI - Petaluma's water quality reports are available HERE - http://cityofpetaluma.net/wrcd/publications.html
