Transplant interested in community politics

Good morning,
I've lived in Petaluma since 2005. Enjoy the little community and all it has to offer. I'm considering entering the world of city politics and realize this board is an active community in that area.
Is there room for a southern gentleman with conservative views yet an open mind in Petaluma?

However, you have lived here for seven years and I think you know the political demeanor around town. You're going to have to have pretty thick skin, the progressives play nasty

Thanks for that 2182, and yes, I've noticed that very same thing. I'm not a progressive, I don't believe more taxes will fix our problems, I'll listen to anyone's opinion/view, but I have my own. This is a great little town, but we can make it better!

Thanks for the note 2182, and yes, I have noticed how things appear to be. It's simply something I believe a fresh face with fresh ideas and no "ties" beholden to anyone that can help move Petaluma forward.

I'm open to new ideas, will listen to anyone's view/opinion, but at the end of the day I make up my own mind. I look forward to more discussion about this as I work to determine my future here in Petaluma.

Roger, Thank you for your efforts to make Petaluma better.

In order for good ideas to take effect you will need three other council members to vote with you.

So make friends with those on the council, and when you do, let us know.

to win a seat you will have to choose a side - business friendly/business oriented or progressive/slow growth. you will be beholden to someone if you want to win. winning takes money (signs, mailers, etc.) and where the money comes from is usually how one votes. progressive money generally comes from environmental groups that says no to everything. business friendly money generally comes from developers who want to build and build.
